GIVE

project Springboard | 2017

platform Android iOS

While enrolled in the UX design course at Springboard.com I worked through a thorough curriculum that culminated in a capstone project. The assignment was to take an everyday process that people may consider difficult, and make it easier. I chose gift giving, and designed an app called GIVE.

Best Friends

GIVE uses your facebook account to import your friends’ public data. It uses data like check-ins, likes, and other interactions with brands or products to build out a profile. Events like birthdays and other milestones are used to create reminders for when it’s time to shop. Users can later tune friends’ 'personality' by adding from a list of adjectives and interests. GIVE will use this information to make gift suggestions in the context of the event you're shopping for.

You can even create new friend profiles if you're buying for somebody who isn't your friend on facebook.

Never Forget

The feed is a list of friend-specific events and gift suggestions, in context. You can quickly swipe through a few of the most relevant suggestions or enter the event and begin putting the perfect gift together. Events are listed chronologically and dates are colour coded to indicate their immediacy.

The feed is built to keep users organized and aware. The goal being that they never miss a special occasion and always have something thoughtful to give.

Be Specific

No two users are created equal. During the design of GIVE it was very important to me to include tools to allow users to find gifts that suit their budget, their taste, and more. By including a set of filters, users can really customize their feeds, leading to suggestions that work for them.
